23/4/19 ^^^The Pain Pleasure Principle (PPP)

Whatever you do in your life you do it for two reasons; to avoid pain or to increase pleasure.  In the course of doing them you then develop moving away values and moving toward values.  These values then form our beliefs.  The belief system then give us meaning.  Which in return invoke us to take informed actions.  This then leads to fight or flight or simply flow.

This process is a cause set in motion which leads to either a continuous upward spiral or a continuous downward spiral.

The thing that normally get us into trouble is pain avoidance.  Instead of going for the short term pain in order to gain a long term pleasure, we go for the short term pleasure.  This in return leads to long term pain because we violate the Principle of Delayed Gratification.

I am one of those who go for short term pleasure.  For example I suppose to read Fit2Fat2Fit (a short term pain) but instead I decided to write to you (a short term pleasure).  In the long run I will suffer the consequences because reading the book is supposed to give me the answer for me being thin.

It's not as easy as it seems.  Sometimes its a choice between a little pleasure vs a big pleasure.  For example running is a little pleasure as compared to writing *[] you.  So I delayed my run (the little pleasure) and loiter with you instead (the big pleasure).  By delaying the little pleasure I turn it into a pain (the weather gets too hot later on).

* I know baby, it's really an obsession.

In the final analysis, I need to forgo even big pleasures for much bigger pleasures like being healthy and happy.

That is why we must be purpose/goal driven.  All the time we need to check the rightness of our direction so that our moving towards values are aligned.

Easy said than done Sarah. As you experience it yourself, we are hooked to one another.  I bet, every hour you awake you are thinking of the Blog.  Same as my friend from Germany here.  The very thing he/she does upon waking up is logging in to the Blog.

Well I hope it is not an obsession with her.  I think it's a her Sarah.  She had been an avid follower for more than 50 postings LOL.  This is for you Miss Germany:


Well, I intend to sleep sharp at 11:00 pm tonight.  I'm gonna sign off early so that I can spend more time with AlphaX64, Wiley Kat and Dino 7.  Tomorrow is W7D1.  Which means no more interval in the run.  It's a full run from here to the 10 km.
