Would you like that Sarah?
Hey, remember? I did ask you to sail with me into the sunset. Actually that is my attitude towards life in general Sarah. I just want to be a bystander and just watch everything go past.
As far as life is concerned, everything shall come and go and I shall remain.
No matter how much we progressed, my needs remain the same; a house, a car, good coffee, good music, good book, food, sweat and sound sleep.
Beyond that are indulgences. Fancy clothes, fancy perfumes and nice shoes are all excess.
Therefore my life had been simplified to the barest minimum. By doing so, I live in gratitude all the time.
What else do we need really? What do you need beyond things that you use on daily basis? All the things I ever need, I already got. That rule out overseas vacation and air travel. Other than that, I got it all.
At present I am like living in the eye of the storm.
This is as close as it is in making time stand still. Even that, time flies for me.
We cannot manage time. We can only manage ourselves against time,
Therefore my metronome is my runs and my swims. I need to calibrate both in order to synchronize with my days.
I notice if I run for the day, I am ON TIME with many other things during that day. If I don't, I will fall back and time will pass me by.
Hence my time is finite. I am 22 years rich. I can waste away my time or I can invest it on making my life meaningful. In my case the meaning I am gong after is health and happiness.
Thus George Sheehan was right. A hermit is an ultimate hedonist. He made that remark after comparing himself, a runner to a hermit. I say he is not far off the mark.
As a runner I am a hedonist hermit and as a hedonist hermit I am a runner.
Therefore the shortest path to health and happiness is to run!
Christopher Bergland coined this quote, "It's [] because I'm happy I exercise, it's because I exercise I'm happy."
So there you go Sarah, the answer of being. To be we need to become.
Here is something to inspire you baby:
All it takes is to sweat 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening to enter bliss.
As for the rest of your time, once you achieve the 2 hours quota, they become your Snow in the Sahara.
Heck, that means I got to run this afternoon. I got to run every other day and alternate it with swimming. That's the basic requirement to be healthy and happy.
Keep things simple but not simpler - Einstein.
